The State Board of Education is pleased to invite you to participate in the Michigan Support Person of the Year Award Program (SSPOY). Outstanding support persons make a difference in Michigan schools every day. Please join us in bringing recognition to these individuals.

The purpose of the SSPOY Award is to honor outstanding support personnel for their contributions to the success of the learning community and to focus public attention on the importance of school support personnel. They are integral partners in ensuring optimal learning environments for our children.

Detailed information regarding the nomination and selection processes can be accessed on the Department’s web site at: www.mi.gov/mde.

Scroll down and click on Recognition Programs in the lower left corner.
Click on Michigan School Support Person of the Year Award.
Click on Guidelines.

Nomination portfolios are due to regional coordinators on November 3, 2003. The timeline for the 2003-04 program is included within the guidelines on the web site. Questions regarding the SSPOY Program may be addressed to Ms. Jean M. Shane at shanej@mi.gov or 517-241-2375.

You are encouraged to join the effort to recognize exemplary school support staff.
