Governor Jennifer Granholm is calling for broad participation by all stakeholders in shaping the future of the Michigan Medicaid program.

On November 21, 2002, Governor Granholm held a summit that engaged representatives of consumers, providers, and insurers along with other experts in developing broad policy that will preserve the safety net and improve recipients' health care while bringing financial stability and solvency to the Medicaid program.

The summit included:

  • Governor Granholm's call for an open dialogue focused on creative solutions and the policy assumptions that will guide deliberations
  • Presentations that provided a full picture of the status of the state budget and the budget challenges facing Medicaid
  • Demonstration of www.michiganmedicaid.org as a vehicle for providing ideas and developing solutions

Contributors supporting the summit process to date include:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan
  • Delta Dental Plan of Michigan
  • Michigan Association of Health Plans
  • Michigan Health and Hospital Association
  • Michigan State Medical Society

Other organizations are welcome to support the summit process. Please contact Public Sector Consultants Inc. (517) 484-4954 for information.

Please see “About the Process” for a description of the key steps in the summit process.
