Disability Organizations: Diabetes

American Diabetes Association (ADA)

Provides diabetes research, information and advocacy. Conducts programs in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, reaching hundreds of communities. If you or someone you love has just been diagnosed with diabetes -- chances are you have a million questions running through your head. This site can help ease your fears and teach you more about living with diabetes or caring for someone with diabetes, and connect you with others affected by diabetes that will listen and share their own experiences.

 

Juvenile Diabetes Foundation International (JDRF)

Dedicated to finding a cure. If you or someone you love has recently been diagnosed with type 1 (juvenile) diabetes, JDRF can help. Practical info about diabetes and its management are provided including “Countdown Magazine”-In-depth analysis of cutting edge diabetes research and treatments, profiles, and more; Countdown for Kids-the first magazine especially for kids with diabetes; information, fun, role models, pen pals; Research E-Newsletter-published monthly to provide all those interested with the latest information about research on type 1 diabetes and its complications; Life with Diabetes E-Newsletter published monthly to provide important information on diabetes management, nutrition, exercise, technology, and more to those living with the disease; and a selection of current books to help you live with diabetes.
