Disability Organizations: Muscular Dystrophy

Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA)

Dedicated to conquering the 40 neuromuscular diseases that affect millions of Americans of all ages. MDA publishes two magazines, several caregiving guides, booklets on each disease covered by MDA, brochures about MDA programs, booklets on some medical issues, and booklets for parents, children, teachers and other interested readers. You can link to most of MDA’s publications, in English and Spanish, or get printed copies at your local MDA office. To find past magazine articles on specific topics, just go to “Stories by Topic” under Quest or the MDA/ALS Newsmagazine. You can research various diseases and link to the characteristics of a disease; the usual age of onset, progression and inheritance type; and a comprehensive list of materials on this website about the disease. Find an MDA clinic and learn about services and camp programs. Connect with others who are facing similar challenges posed by neuromuscular diseases and locate an MDA chapter in your community.
