Programs That Provide Health-related Services: Newborns

Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program

Provides general lead poisoning information, blood Lead testing resources, data, charts, maps and specific information on how to make your home lead safe.
 

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Program (FAS)

Makes available a list of community projects in the state, a map of diagnostic and treatment centers, and informational links to conference presentations and other FAS related websites.
 

Genetic Health Services

Mi Genetics Connection developed this site to provide information on how you may benefit from a genetic clinic visit, inform you of clinics and outreach sites in the state, and link you to other sites providing information on genetics related topics including adult genetics and chronic disease, birth defects and folic acid, community involvement, data and reports, genes and environment, genetic health and laboratory services,  newborn screening, and a support group directory.

 

Newborn Screening Program

Highlights the state’s newborn screening program (including the disorders all infants in Michigan are screened for) and provides important informational links for families and professionals to newborn screening information and resources.

 

Special Preventive Services to Keep Infants Healthy

Explains the requirements placed on Qualified Health Plans (QHP) to provide Maternal and Infant Health Program services to their members when they are determined to be medically necessary. Provides a list of Maternal and Infant Contacts at each QHP who can be contacted regarding MSS/ISS services.
