Noelle CLARK, the director of the Department of Consumer and
Industry Services, unveiled the new name for the Bureau of
Regulatory Services and changes to the organizational chart to
protect and serve the 495,688 clients in Michigan's child care
and adult foster care facilities.
“The Bureau of Regulatory Services is undergoing many
organizational and technology enhancements enabling the state
of Michigan to provide the same or increased level of service
with less costly staffing and fewer employees as a result of
early retirement,” Clark said. “With these many changes, we
thought this was the perfect opportunity to change the name to
the Bureau of Family Services to better reflect the services
we provide which is to serve families by licensing and
regulating child care and adult foster care facilities.”
The new bureau will license and regulate the 32,963 homes and
facilities in Michigan, including children's foster homes,
homes for the aged, child care homes and centers.
