Michigan's Education and Training Voucher (ETV) Program is available to provide up to $5000 to current and former foster youth in order to assist them with college
expenses. Lutheran Social Services of Michigan (Jackson Office), administrator of the ETV Program since January 2006, is urging foster care workers, foster parents, community members and other interested persons to help youth in foster care apply for the vouchers.

"I understand that this is a busy time, caseloads are high and everyone is stretched too thin," says Ann Rossi, ETV Coordinator at Lutheran Social Services. "Please remember that, for our youth in foster care that are getting ready to graduate from high school, this can be an extremely stressful time as well. They may be overwhelmed and scared as they look toward their future. Please assist them with meeting goals of entering college or a vocational program by giving them the information regarding the ETV Program and helping them with the application."

All application information can be found at http://mietv.lssm.org.

Foster care youth and caring adults can also call toll-free 1-877-660-METV (6388) with any questions.

"We have a huge amount of money to give away in ETV's," says Rossi. "Please help us get the word out to get this money to the youth that have been in Michigan's foster care system so that they can make a better future for themselves."
